Madeline's Graduation

Our baby girl is growing up...she recently "graduated" from pre-school. It is really hard to believe that she is ready to go to "big school" as she calls it.

Below are a few pictures from her graduation ceremony:

T-shirt Quilt

When I entered college (16 years ago) and pledged a sorority, I had no idea at the time what I would do with all the t-shirts I saved over the 4 years I was there. I knew that I wanted to keep my jersey in case I had a daughter (who pledged the same sorority) to pass it on too. But I did not know what I would do with the t-shirts from swaps, sisterhood retreats, formals, and such. I kept my favorite ones and the ones in the best condition. I am glad I did...even if I graduated 12 years ago...because J's grandmother made my old t-shirts into a quilt. Not only did she make one for me, she also made a quilt for J using his old t-shirts from his fraternity.

Here are a few pictures I took of the quilts. We just love them!! They turned out perfect.

This is the quilt she made from some of my old t-shirts:

So, do you have a neat or special way you have saved mementos from college or high school? Photobucket

Memorial Day

"Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13

May we always remember

May we never forget....

Today, please take a moment to stop and reflect over what this day really means. Memorial Day is a day set aside for us to honor and remember those men and women who paid the ulitmate price for our freedom....because..."For love of country they accepted death..." -James A. Garfield Photobucket

Let's Play Ball

Jack's first season playing AA (also known as pitching machine) baseball has come to an end. It has been such a fun and busy season. Even though some days I felt like I did not know if we were coming or going, it was all worth it. Jack loves playing baseball and has such a great attitude about it. I love watching him play. I have loved watching how much he has grown and improved over this season. I was a little sad when Jack played his last game this past weekend...but I am not sad anymore...we found out a couple days ago that Jack made all stars! YAY! We were VERY surprised about this, especially since it is his 1st season in this league (not to mention the fact he is a 1st grader playing against boys in the 3rd grade) Jack is so excited too! He can not wait to play all-star ball this summer. The other day I was thinking about how much "free" time we were going to have this summer and having all these thoughts of fun activities for the kids...well, looks like I will be adjusting those plans slightly (hehe) but it will be worth it. I am just glad that J will be here for the first couple games at least. (I know some of you reading this are going "what? he's leaving again?" yes, he will be stateside for some schooling. I have not shared all that news on here, but that post is coming)

So, in honor of the end of regular season and the start of All-Stars, here are a few pictures of my Jack from this season:

Madeline's Dance Recital

Madeline had her dance recital a couple weeks ago. It was so much fun and so cute! The dancers have worked hard all year to show off their new moves. We loved watching our little girl dance her little heart out and were so glad that daddy was there to see the show.

I am trying to get the blog caught up...it has been a crazy spring for us with dance, ball, and me substituting at Jack's school. A friend informed me I still have not shared Disney pics...see way behind. I think I need an assitant (ha!) But school is out for the summer (YAY!) so hopefully I will get caught up over the next week...today is major house cleaning and disinfecting day-because
Jack has stomach virus...great start to the summer vacation huh?

Mother's Day

I feel so blessed to be a mommy.  There is absolutely nothing better to hear, than the sound of "mommy" coming out of the mouth of my children...unless its one of those whiny "mommy" sounds...you know the one where someone is about to tattle, or complain, or fuss...:)  oh the joy's of being a mommy.  I love it all though and would not change it for anything in the world.  It all goes way too fast though.

I had a fabulous mother's day!  J got us all breakfast (not breakfast in bed, I am always the first to rise in our house-because you know a mother's work is never done), but it was still nice to have someone else do breakfast :)  The I got to open home made cards from everyone.  I LOVE homemade cards.  I love to see my kids creativity and the funny things they write.  Even J made me a homemade card.  Then I got to see all the projects, crafts, drawings, and mother's day interviews the kids completed at school.  One of my favorites "How do you know your mom loves you?" Jack answered "because she feeds me"  hehe    My mom also helped the kids make me some "coupons" that I can cash in for different stuff.  One of my favorite coupons came from Madeline and it said "I wish to give you a back rub" hehe....I told her that I wish for her to give me a back rub too.  Have I mentioned that I love being a mommy?  I also got a pretty rose straight off our rose bush (yay for having a rose bush!) and a gift certificate for a pedicure!  Can. not. wait. to. use. that!

My day continued to be great...we went to church, then had a yummy meal prepared, cooked and cleaned up by J, his dad, his brother, and his granddad.  After that we went to visit my mom.  A really great day full of getting to hear my children say "Happy Mother's Day" all day long.  Too sweet!

Below is a picture of my little sweeties before we went to church:

and this is what they REALLY look like when I take out the camera....(never a dull moment)

And of course, I have to share this picture. I guess it wore J out taking care of all that stuff for Mother's Day, ha!

Of course, this mother's day I had friends on my mind...friends who recently lost children and would be spending their first mother's day without their child, friends who recently lost their mother and would be spending their first mother's day without their mom, and friends whose husbands are deployed and are alone on mother's day.  Such a heavy heart for each of them and how I prayed for them to be comforted on that day.

I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day!
