Praises For Progress!!

I am so HAPPY to report that Jack's eye continues to improve. We had another follow-up appointment today and I knew there was progress, but I had no idea just how much progress had been made. In 6 months, Jack's eye went from seeing 20/400 (only able to read the large E at the top of the chart) to now he can see 20/50! (huge improvement of being able to see several lines now!) Also, we have been patching for the amblyopia (lazy eye) and 6 months ago we started at 10 hours per day of patching the "good" eye. 3 months ago we were decreased to 6 hours. And today we have been DECREASED again to now only 3 hours!!! We are so thankful and excited for the progress. I know that Jack is even more excited to not have to wear the patch as much =) Praises for this improvement!!!!

Below is a picture of the kids going crazy in the waiting room...when you wait for an hour in a room the size of a closet this is what your kids do. They ate all the snacks I brought, played with all the toys and were tired of the tv...and this is what happens when they get tired of waiting and are ready to leave.

Welcome to K-5 Party

***I have been asked so many times if Jack was in school yet because he is 5....(it is funny to me how many people are concerned about this) anyway....Jason and I feel that Jack would really benefit from another year of pre-school so that he will be fully ready to attend regular school.****Ok, now that is out of the way, on with the blog. =) This weekend we attended a Welcome to K-5 party that was held at the school Jack is going to be attending this year. The kids had so much fun! The fire truck was there, complete with firemen and Sparky the Dog. Madeline would not have anything to do with Sparky (she hid behind me the whole time) The kids were able to climb inside the truck and explore. Madeline of course our little explorer, managed the find the one button that was not to be pushed and she pushed it. =) After the fire truck, the kids were able to explore an 18 wheeler. They loved running around in the trailer of the truck...who knew that would be so much fun? After that, we moved inside for the inflatable tunnel and slide. This of course was a big hit! And we finished off the party with ice cream, cookies, and juice. It was a great time! Jack's buddies were there and we are so excited that they will be in his class this year. Jack is excited for school to start! Below are a few pictures from the party.

My big boy! I can not believe he will be going to K-5 in just a little over a week.

Vacation ~ Part 2

On our way home from the beach we stopped off at the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola. It is a very neat place to go and I am so glad that we went. We spent a few hours in there and it was NOT enough time. There is so much to read about and look at. I hope that we can go back soon when we have time to really look at and read everything. There is a kid play area which was fantastic. Plus there are so many exhibits open for the kids to actually play in. If you are ever in the area, I recommend taking the time to visit the museum...it is well worth your time and it is FREE!

Vacation

***I just want to encourage you to check out www.fortheirjoy.blogspot.com (link on the right under Aimee and Jami) If you are at all interested in adoption please check out this blog and see the pictures of these beautiful children who are waiting on a mommy and daddy***

Last week the kids and I went to Navarre Beach with Jason's family. (Jason joined us at the end of the week) It was a great vacation (even with a tropical storm and lots of rough waves and rain) The kids had a lot of fun! Below are a "few" of my favorite pictures from our vacation. Pops and Jack asleep in the back seat. Madeline...this was probably the only time during the whole 6 hour drive that Madeline was not crying or pitching a fit. The kids convinced Eric to build a GI Joe fort using the couch cushions =) On our first full day at the beach we woke to Tropical Storm warnings. It was not too bad. Just wind and rain. Above is a picture of the waves crashing up on the Pier. Here is picture of the rain beating against the window. Zach found a light bulb washed up on shore. The waves got pretty big. A big log that washed up on shore. After everything cleared, I took Jack out for a walk on the beach. The kids convinced Pops to go swimming with them after the tropical storm passed. I was not falling for it, but Pops would do anything for these kiddos and so he went swimming. You can tell by the look on Jack's face just how cold the water is. =) Jack loves the beach! lil Miss...check out that build a bear sun bathing in the background (how cute is that!) Madeline posing for a quick picture after we got back from eating out. Jack taking a quick picture so he could get back to climbing the log. Jack and Granna Granna, Jack, and Madeline Jack, Madi, and Me Jack Madeline Pops with Jack and Madi Pops, granna, Jack and Madi Jack Madeline Jack, Madi, and me Jason and Jackson...he loved having daddy to do cannonballs with. Jason and Madeline...she loved having daddy to swim with. Jack and daddy Jack and Madeline eating a sno ball in the hot tub. =) Jack doing his famous "cannonball" You must know that as Jack is jumping in the pool he is shouting as loud as he can "CannonBall" It is so funny! ;) Pops and Jackson Madeline getting a ride from daddy. Pops. Jason, Jack and Madeline Madeline not looking too happy...must have been close to naptime. Jack wearing some goggles that were as big as he is =) Madeline at the Crab trap Jack at the Crab Trap

Below is a video with just a few seconds of footage during the tropical storm. You can mostly hear the wind and kinda get a glimpse at how big the waves are (though this footage does not really give you a good idea of just how big the waves are) **Be sure to pause the music player at the bottom**
