Home Tour ~ Kitchen

I am a frequenter to a great blog Kelly's Korner. Kelly is hosting a Show Us Where You Live Home Tour where every Friday a different room in your home will be "showcased" Well I just love this idea and have loved looking in on all the kitchens, so I decided to join in on the tour.

This is my china. My grandmother saved this for me since I was a little girl. I could not wait until I got married so this could be mine =)

These beautiful dishes were given to me by my wonderful husband. He purchased them for me during his first deployment for Operation Iraq Freedom. How wonderful is he?!?

This is my Christmas china. Holiday Tartan (I think) by Lenox. We love holiday's around the Crow house! On Christmas morning all the family comes to our house and we serve up a big southern breakfast and watch the kids open santa.

Our everyday dishes. Italian Countryside by Mikasa. And yes, we really do eat off these everyday.

The eat in kitchen. We eat most of our meals here, but sometimes we picnic outside when the weather permits. Notice the empty curtain rods...we are in the midst of a kitchen remodel and I have not been able to make the curtains yet, but I am going to get to that very soon =)

The recently finished kitchen cabinets. They were an oak color...that is until we sanded them down, painted them white, and put a black glaze on top. I am so glad that part of the kitchen remodel is over =)

Another view of the cabinets. Notice the white cabinet paint still on the walls...like I said we are still in the midst of the remodel so we have not touched up the red paint yet.

The curtains I am making for the windows are the same damask design that is on this plate.

Dinner is in the crock pot...today is laundry day so I went with easy =)

I love cookbooks....I am almost embarrassed to admit that I have 3 (yes 3) cabinets of nothing but cookbooks. I love to cook and I really do use every one of the books.

Here is my collection of Southern Living Cookbooks

Hope you enjoyed the first installment of the Home Tour. Check back on Friday for the next stop of the tour....The Living Room

I LOVE, love, love your cabinets. I would really like to do something like that to our oak ones. Was it really difficult to do? Thanks for sharing.

Brittany~thank you for the sweet comment!

Aimee~girl you gotta get over here soon =)

Heather~thank you so much for the sweet comment! The cabinets were not hard, just a long process. We sanded (which was a mess) then 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of white paint (paint made specifically for kitchen cabinets) then the glazing which was really not hard at all (just mix your paint color with glaze, paint it on the cabinet, and wipe off with a rag until you get it the color you want)

Lisa~I will be in touch..thanks again!!

Hey girl,

The kitchen looks great. I have the same everyday dishes as you, Italian Countryside. I love them!! I am a bit of a dishes nut. I have several sets myself. :)

Hey! My name is Misty. Your kitchen is beautiful, but more than that your last name rings a bell. I was a "Crow" until I married in 1999. Where are you from? You don't see many Crows where I live in MISSISSIPPI. So neat to run into that last name. Please leave a comment on my blog if you don't mind. Thanks for sharing your home.
