Christmas Carnival Day 2

Welcome to the 2nd Annual Wives of Faith Blog Carnival!  I am excited to participate in the carnival again this year.  They have chosen some really great topics!  Of course, I missed yesterday's topic (Favorite Christmas ornament...yea, still don't have my tree up yet)  So I am jumping in a day late.

Today's topic is "Christmas would not be Christmas without______"    Of course, Christmas would not be Christmas without the birth of Jesus.  And because of that birth we have been the given to the gift of eternal life, the gift of faith, the blessing of hope and the peace of His love.  So without HIS birth it just would not be Christmas.
On a silly note though, Christmas would not be Christmas without....watching the 24-hour marathon of  "A Christmas Story"  Many, many late night Christmas eve's  have been spent in front of the tv watching this movie and wrapping presents.  And of course, many early Christmas mornings have been spent opening gifts while this movie played.  :)  No matter how many times we have watched this movie, it just does not get old and we still laugh like we did the first time we watched it.

So here is a little storyline for you:   Ralphie, a young boy growing up in the '40's, dreams of owning a Red Rider BB gun. He sets out to convince the world this is the perfect gift. But along the way, he runs into opposition from his parents, his teacher, and even good 'ol Santa Claus himself.

Ralphie telling Santa he wants the BB gun just before Santa pushed (with his foot) Ralphie down the slide

Ahhh...the classic "I triple dog dare you"

Oh and who can forget this Christmas gift???

There are so many funny scenes and lines from this movie, I could share them all, but I will spare you ;)

Even though I will be playing Santa alone this year, I will have this movie on just like we always have...it's all about tradition.

Be sure to head over to WIVES of FAITH and check out what other military spouses are sharing.

Yep, "you'll shoot your eye out!" is a classic. One year, my sister gave my Dad one of those one leg lamps just as a joke. Our kids totally did not get it, but the adults couldn't stop laughing. :)
