It's Finally Here....

FOOTBALL SEASON HAS ARRIVED!!!!
I don't know about the rest of you, but we take football season pretty serious around here. We have been looking forward to this for a while now. With Jason being gone all of last year, we knew we wanted to make a "big to-do" about it...and so we are.

Jack and Madi ready to watch some football. Jack is sporting his Bama jersey and Madi is sporting her Auburn cheerleader outfit. (Madi says thanks Mrs Holly we love our cheerleader outfit!)

Yes, we are a house divided. =) Right now, the flag has my team (Auburn) on the top, but when Jason comes in he flips it around so that his team (Bama) is on the top.

Watching football would not be complete without tailgating food. (Ok who am I kidding...I am in it for the food! HA!)
What I am making today for snacking:

Spinach & Herb Dip:
2 Tbsp. Spinach & Herb Dip from Tastefully Simple
1/2 cup mayo
1/2 cup sour cream
Mix all together and let chill in fridge and about an hour.
Serve with Bountiful Beer Bread (Tastefully Simple) and assorted crackers

BBQ Cocktail Smokies:
2 pkgs cocktail smokies 1 bottle bbq sauce
3-4 heaping spponfulls grape jelly
put all ingredients in crock pot on high until smokies are fully cooked.

The rest of the spread:
Green Chile Corn Muffins* (see recipe below menu)
Slaw
Greens
Macaroni and Cheese
Hot wings
Chili
Pecan Pie Muffins* (see recipe below menu)

Green Chile Corn Muffins:
Vegetable Oil Cooking Spray
1 1/4 cups self rising corn meal
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar
1 (8 oz) can cream style corn
1 cup sour cream
1 (4oz) can chopped green chiles
1/2 cup canola oil
2 large eggs, lightly beaten

Preheat oven to 400
Spray mini muffin tins with veg. oil spray
In a small bowl combine cornmeal, cheese, corn, sour cream, and chiles. Stir until combined. Add oil and eggs and stir until everything is combined. (Do not overmix) Batter will be stiff.
Place about 1/2 Tbsp of batter into muffin cup.
Bake for 18 to 20 minutes.

Pecan Pie Muffins:
1 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup plain flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2/3 cup melted butter

Combine pecans, flour, and brown sugar; set aside
Combine melted butter and eggs; mix well
Stir into flour mixture. Fill greased and floured mini muffin tins about 1/2 full.
Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes. Remove immediately and cool on wire racks.

I will share more of my favorite tail gating recipes throughout football season so check back on Saturday's this fall =)

Below is a video of our sweet Madi. She is pitching a MAJOR fit b/c she does not want to wear her cheerleader outfit (as you can see in the picture above, I won that battle) Jason insisted that I put this video on here. Be sure to pause the music player at the bottom to get the full effect. =)

Little Madi, I would scream and cry if she made me wear that outfit too!!! Have your daddy go get you a "good" cheerleading outfit. I think you would look great in red and white!
